About Us

The Great Word of God Church is a Pentecostal denomination with multiple branches, including at least one in Ag Swedru. The church focuses on the “word of God” and likely involves teaching, prayer, and faith in Jesus Christ to bring light, understanding, and deliverance from spiritual darkness, according to themes common in Pentecostal traditions.

The Church

Promised Word Church International is a Spirit-led, Christ-centered ministry built on the unshakable truth of God’s Word. Formerly known as The Great Word of God, our church has grown in vision and purpose, stepping into a new season under a new name — but with the same deep commitment to preaching the Gospel, transforming lives, and advancing God’s Kingdom.
This new name reflects the next chapter of our journey — one rooted in God’s promises and empowered by His Spirit to reach our communities, our nation, and the nations of the world.

Tenet Of The Church

This church always looks to the Bible as its spiritual guide and fully follows the fundamental truths and the standard of Christian doctrine and principles as set forth by the Church Council of The Promised Word Church International, Ghana.

  1. The Bible
    • The Holy Bible is God’s divine and inspired word. (2 Peter 1:20–21, 2 Timothy 3:16)
    • It is authoritative, infallible, and superior to human reasoning. (John 20:31, Psalm 119:105)
    • Nothing must be added to or taken from the Word of God. (Revelation 22:18–19)
  2. The One True God
    • The one true God has revealed Himself as eternal. (Deuteronomy 6:4)
    • He exists as a Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Luke 3:22, Matthew 28:19–20, John 1:1–3)
  3. 3. Man’s Depraved Nature
Man was created in God’s image but fell from grace through sin. (Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12, Isaiah 53:6)
Man needs repentance and regeneration. (Acts 2:38, Acts 17:30, Romans 3:23–25)
Salvation is obtained through faith in Jesus Christ. (Mark 1:15, Romans 10:8–10, 2 Corinthians 5:17)

    4. The Saviour, Jesus Christ, and His Divinity
Jesus Christ is the only Saviour and mediator between God and man. (Acts 4:10–12, 1 Timothy 2:5)
His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, resurrection, and ascension confirm His divinity. (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18–25, John 2:11, Romans 5:8–11, Acts 1:9–11)

    5. Repentance, Regeneration, Justification, and Sanctification
Repentance and faith in Christ lead to regeneration. (John 3:3–6, 1 Peter 1:23)
Justification is by faith in Christ alone. (Romans 5:1–2)
Sanctification is the process of living a holy life through the power of the Holy Spirit. (Hebrews 12:14, 1 Thessalonians 5:23)

    6. The Holy Spirit, Fruit, Baptism, and Gifts
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is for all believers. (Acts 2:38–39)
The evidence of Holy Spirit baptism is speaking in tongues. (Acts 2:4, Acts 10:44–46)
The Holy Spirit empowers believers with gifts and produces spiritual fruit. (Galatians 5:22–23, 1 Corinthians 12:8–11)

    7. The Ordinances of Water Baptism and Holy Communion of the Lord’s Supper
Water baptism by immersion is for believers. (Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:4–6)
The Lord’s Supper is to be partaken by all baptized members in full fellowship. (Luke 22:19–20, 1 Corinthians 11:23–33)

    8. Divine Healing
Healing is provided in the atonement of Christ. (Isaiah 53:4–5, Matthew 8:16–17, James 5:14–16)
  4. 9. Tithes and Offerings
Tithing and freewill offerings support the work of the church. (Malachi 3:10, 2 Corinthians 9:7, Luke 6:38)
God blesses those who give cheerfully. (Acts 20:35)

    10. The Church
The church is the body of Christ, consisting of all true believers. (1 Peter 1:18–19, 2 Corinthians 6:16–18, Ephesians 2:20–22)
The mission of the church is to evangelize and make disciples. (Matthew 28:19–20)

    11. The Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the Next Life
Jesus will return to rapture the church. (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, Titus 2:13)
After the tribulation, Christ will reign for 1,000 years. (Revelation 20:1–6)
The final judgment will determine the eternal destiny of all. (Revelation 20:11–15)
The righteous will inherit a new heaven and a new earth. (2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 21:1–4)

These tenets form the foundation of our faith and guide our lives as members of the Promised Word Church International.
